StudFinder+ is a mobile AI app that turns a phone into a practical “good-enough” wall scanning assistant for DIYers before they drill. Using a guided calibration flow, it uses the phone’s magnetometer, accelerometer/gyroscope, and microphone (tap/knock analysis) to estimate stud spacing and flag likely “no-drill zones” where pipes or wiring may be present. It won’t pretend to be a professional scanner; instead it focuses on reducing the most common homeowner mistake: drilling into something expensive. The app walks users through a repeatable scan pattern, shows confidence levels, and generates a simple drill plan (mounting height, anchor type suggestions, and a checklist). It also stores room maps and lets users annotate where they successfully drilled, gradually improving future scans for that home. Monetization: freemium with a paid “project pack” and room history backup.
