SubstiSure

SubstiSure is a mobile + web app that helps patients and pharmacists quickly identify lower-cost generic or therapeutic alternatives that are actually covered under a specific insurance plan. Users scan a prescription label or type the drug name, strength, and dosage form, then select their insurer and plan (or upload a formulary PDF). The app returns: (1) AB-rated generics when available, (2) common therapeutic alternatives in the same class (clearly labeled as not identical), and (3) estimated out-of-pocket ranges based on tier/copay rules and prior authorization flags. It also generates a pharmacist-ready message the user can bring to the counter or send to their prescriber requesting a substitution or alternative. This is not magic: pricing and coverage change constantly, so the app focuses on “best available” guidance with timestamps, sources, and confidence levels rather than pretending to be perfect.
