SwitchSense

SwitchSense is a web + mobile field app for distribution utilities to plan and execute switching during faults, maintenance, and load transfers with fewer mistakes. It ingests SCADA/OMS/DMS events (or even manual updates for smaller co-ops) and maintains a lightweight, real-time “as-operated” feeder topology. Operators can simulate a switching sequence, validate safety constraints (no backfeed, device ratings, lockout/tagout steps), and generate a step-by-step switching order that field crews can acknowledge on mobile. It’s not a full DMS replacement; it’s a pragmatic layer that focuses on the messy gap between planned topology and what’s actually happening in the field. Expect pushback: utilities hate new tools and integrations are painful. The MVP should target one region/feeder set and prove it reduces switching errors and restoration time before expanding.
