SwitchTag is a field-first asset verification app for distribution networks that fixes the unglamorous problem utilities keep paying for: wrong or stale asset records. Crews scan a QR/NFC tag on transformers, switches, reclosers, and cabinets, then confirm key attributes (nameplate, phase, ratings, location, photos) against the GIS/ADMS record. The app flags mismatches, missing assets, and suspicious geolocation drift, then routes a clean “change packet” to engineering for approval and sync back to the system of record. It works offline, enforces required evidence (photo + GPS + timestamp), and produces audit trails for regulators and internal QA. This is not a shiny digital twin; it’s a practical data quality pipeline that reduces truck rolls, switching errors, and planning mistakes caused by bad inventory.
