TariffScout

TariffScout is a consumer web + mobile app that helps households and small businesses compare electricity and gas tariffs using their real usage patterns, not generic averages. Users upload a bill PDF/CSV or connect via smart meter data (where available). The app normalizes standing charges, time-of-use rates, export credits, and contract terms, then simulates annual cost under each available plan in the user’s postcode/utility territory. It flags “gotchas” like teaser rates, exit fees, minimum usage clauses, and peak pricing exposure. It also tracks renewal dates and sends alerts when a user’s plan becomes uncompetitive. This is a traditional app with light AI: AI is used mainly for bill parsing and plan-term extraction, not for making opaque recommendations. The goal is simple: reduce overpaying caused by confusing pricing structures and poor comparison tools.
