TariffScout
TariffScout is a mobile + web app that helps low-income households and support workers quickly identify cheaper electricity/gas tariffs and assistance programs, then generates a ready-to-submit switch/aid packet. Users enter a few details (postcode, meter type, payment method) and upload a recent bill photo; the app extracts key fields, estimates annual cost under alternative plans, and flags eligibility for social tariffs, arrears grants, and local hardship funds. It also produces a plain-language summary explaining trade-offs (exit fees, variable rates, prepay penalties) and a step-by-step checklist for switching without losing supply. For charities and councils, a lightweight dashboard tracks cases, deadlines, and outcomes. The app is realistic about constraints: it won’t “magically” cut bills, but it can reduce overpayment, missed benefits, and time wasted navigating confusing provider rules.
