TariffTamer is a mobile + web app that helps households reduce electricity costs by aligning usage with time-of-use rates and real-time price signals. Users connect their utility account (where supported) or manually enter their tariff plan, then the app builds a simple schedule: when to run laundry, charge an EV, pre-cool/heat the home, or run a water heater. It sends alerts like “Cheapest 2-hour window starts at 11pm” and tracks savings versus a baseline. It’s not magic: without smart devices, savings depend on behavior change, so the app focuses on realistic, high-impact actions and clear payback. For users with smart plugs/thermostats, it can automate a few routines. The dashboard shows bill forecasts, peak-usage warnings, and a monthly “what actually saved you money” report.
