TariffTherm

TariffTherm is a mobile + web app that optimizes heating and cooling around time-of-use electricity pricing and utility demand events. You connect your thermostat (where supported) and select your utility plan; the app then builds a simple schedule that pre-heats or pre-cools when power is cheaper and coasts during expensive peak windows, while keeping comfort bounds you set. It shows projected savings, what changed, and when it refused to optimize because it would break your comfort constraints. This is not magic: if your home is leaky, your HVAC is oversized/undersized, or your utility rate is flat, savings will be modest. The app focuses on transparency and control, letting users approve automation levels and override instantly. It also provides a “rate-plan sanity check” to flag when switching plans could save more than any automation.
