TaxiTrace

TaxiTrace is a mobile + tablet app for pilots that acts as a “ground GPS copilot” during taxi. It overlays your live position on geo-referenced airport diagrams and highlights the cleared route you enter (or import from a text clearance). The app continuously monitors heading, speed, and proximity to hotspots (runway hold shorts, closed taxiways, construction areas) and triggers loud, unmissable alerts when you deviate or approach a runway without an expected clearance. It also supports offline airport diagram packs and quick switching between airports for diversions. This is not a replacement for certified avionics; it’s a situational-awareness tool aimed at reducing runway incursions and taxi confusion—especially at night, in low visibility, or at unfamiliar Class B airports. Realistically, adoption hinges on accuracy, reliability, and keeping the UI dead simple under stress.
