TideWatch
TideWatch is a mobile + web app that helps divers, snorkelers, and underwater photographers predict marine-life sightings at specific sites and times. It combines public ocean data (tides, swell, currents, temperature, visibility proxies) with user-submitted logs and photo-confirmed sightings to generate a “likelihood forecast” for species groups (turtles, rays, sharks, nudibranchs, schooling fish). The app is realistic about uncertainty: it shows confidence bands, recent data volume, and what conditions the model is keying on. Users can plan trips, set alerts for “good windows,” and keep a personal dive log that automatically tags conditions. The MVP focuses on a few regions with strong data availability and active communities, then expands. Monetization is subscriptions for advanced forecasts, offline site packs, and pro tools for guides/shops.
