TongueRelay
TongueRelay is a mobile + web app that helps endangered-language communities capture everyday speech without turning people into “research subjects.” Users record short voice notes in real situations (cooking, joking, telling directions). The app auto-transcribes when possible, but more importantly it routes clips to trusted community reviewers who approve spellings, meanings, and cultural context. Approved clips become bite-sized “micro-lessons” that relatives can practice with spaced repetition and simple call-and-response prompts. A lightweight “family circle” model keeps content private by default, with optional community publishing for those who want it. This is an AI + traditional app: AI accelerates transcription, translation suggestions, and lesson generation, while humans stay in control for accuracy and cultural safety. Realistically, it won’t save a language alone—but it can reduce friction enough to increase daily use.
