ToolTrace

ToolTrace is a mobile + web app for small construction crews and makerspaces to track shared tools and equipment without enterprise bloat. It uses QR code labels (printable in-app) to check tools in/out, assign responsibility to a person or jobsite, and log condition notes with photos. The app maintains a simple “last seen” timeline, overdue alerts, and a weekly audit mode that guides a foreman through scanning a gang box or shop wall in minutes. For higher-value items, it supports optional Bluetooth tracker linking (AirTag/Tile-style) but doesn’t depend on it. Reports show loss rates, most-missing tools, and replacement cost trends so owners can justify process changes. It’s intentionally lightweight: fast scanning, offline-first for jobsites, and minimal setup so crews actually use it.
