TorqueTutor

TorqueTutor is a mobile app (iOS/Android) with optional web dashboard that turns a confusing repair video binge into a structured, tool-aware checklist. You pick your exact vehicle (VIN decode), choose a job (brakes, battery, serpentine belt, oil leak triage), and the app generates a step-by-step plan with torque specs, part numbers, fluid capacities, and safety warnings tailored to your trim. The AI layer lets you snap photos of your engine bay or problem area and asks clarifying questions to narrow down the job and catch common mistakes (wrong bolt, wrong fluid, missing jack points). It also tracks what tools you actually own and suggests the cheapest “buy vs borrow vs rent” path. It’s not a magic mechanic: it will frequently tell users when a job is unsafe or not worth DIY, and route them to a shop estimate instead.
