TrailPermit
TrailPermit is a mobile app that tells hikers and overlanders exactly where they can legally camp, park overnight, or pass through—based on their live GPS location, even with no signal. It blends public land boundaries (BLM, USFS, state trust lands), local ordinances, seasonal closures, and permit requirements into a single “yes/no + why” answer with a confidence score. Users can download regions for offline use, pin a spot, and get a plain-English explanation: land manager, rules, quiet hours, fire restrictions, and whether a permit is required. The app also supports quick incident reporting (gate closed, new signage) with photo + location, routed to a moderation queue. This is not a social feed; it’s a compliance tool that reduces tickets, towing, and conflict with land managers—while saving users hours of research across scattered PDFs and outdated forum posts.
