TrailPermit

TrailPermit is a mobile + web app that aggregates outdoor recreation permits, reservations, and access rules into one searchable place. It focuses on the frustrating reality: people plan hikes/camping trips and only later discover permits are sold out, trailheads require timed entry, or seasonal closures apply. The app pulls data from major federal/state systems and local park sites, normalizes it, and shows availability by date, location, and activity (hike, camp, climb, paddle). It also tracks “permit drop” times and sends alerts when inventory opens or cancellations appear. An AI layer summarizes confusing regulations (e.g., group size limits, dogs, fires) into plain English with citations back to the source. Monetization is subscription for alerts and trip monitoring, plus a small affiliate revenue stream for gear/insurance—without pretending it replaces official booking systems.
