TrailPermit

TrailPermit is a mobile + web app that helps hikers, backpackers, and climbers avoid the most common trip-killers: missing permits, wrong trailhead rules, seasonal closures, and quota windows. You pick a destination (park/forest/wilderness area) and dates; the app builds a compliance checklist: required permits, reservation links, fee amounts, entry times, parking rules, bear-can requirements, fire restrictions, and closure alerts. It also tracks your permit status (applied/confirmed/printed), stores PDFs offline, and sends reminders for lottery dates and release times. This is an AI + traditional app: AI extracts and normalizes messy agency pages and PDFs into structured, searchable rules, while the core app handles workflows and notifications. It won’t magically get you a permit—incumbents already control inventory—but it will drastically reduce failed trips and wasted drives by keeping the “paperwork reality” in one place.
