TrapTrackr

TrapTrackr is a mobile + web app for anyone running beetle sampling (pitfall, flight intercept, light traps) who is tired of messy notebooks and lost metadata. It standardizes trap setup, GPS locations, habitat notes, lure/bait details, and collection intervals, then generates clean datasets and labels for vials/bags. The AI component helps transcribe handwritten field notes, flags missing metadata (date/time, trap effort, coordinates), and can suggest likely taxa from photos only as a rough triage—not a definitive ID. The core value is operational: consistent protocols, effort calculations, and export-ready data for reports, grants, and publications. It supports offline field mode, batch entry for dozens of traps, and chain-of-custody tracking from field to lab. Realistically, this won’t replace expert identification; it will save time, prevent data loss, and make datasets usable.
