TreatyClause is a web app (AI + traditional) that helps tax professionals quickly locate, compare, and cite specific tax treaty provisions across countries. Instead of scrolling PDFs, users ask a question like “dividend withholding rate for pension funds” and get the relevant articles, protocol notes, and definitions with exact citations and side-by-side comparisons across treaties. It also flags common gotchas: limitation-on-benefits tests, beneficial ownership language differences, and whether a protocol modifies the base text. The product is intentionally narrow: it does not “do your tax return” or pretend to replace legal advice. It’s built to reduce research time and citation mistakes, and to generate a clean memo-style export (with links to source documents) that a reviewer can verify. Realistically, the hardest part is maintaining a reliable, up-to-date treaty corpus and avoiding hallucinations—so the app is designed around retrieval and quoting, not freeform answers.
