TribalLedger

TribalLedger is a web + mobile app for Indigenous communities to securely store, describe, and share cultural materials with precise, community-defined permissions. Instead of a public “discover” feed, it focuses on governance: who can view, listen, download, or even know an item exists (including gender/role/seasonal restrictions). It supports digitized photos, audio of language and songs, video interviews, and document scans, with offline capture for remote areas and later sync. A lightweight AI component helps generate draft metadata (dates, locations, subjects) and transcriptions, but nothing is published without human review. The app also produces shareable “access receipts” for researchers and museums, making consent and usage terms explicit. This is not a consumer entertainment app; it’s a practical cultural records system built for real-world constraints and trust.
