UnderlayIQ is a mobile + web app that helps shoppers and homeowners choose the correct rug pad/underlay for their specific floor, rug type, and use case. Most returns and complaints in rugs come from the unsexy stuff: wrong pad thickness, incompatible materials (e.g., rubber on certain finishes), sliding, bunching, and premature wear. Users answer a short guided questionnaire (floor material, finish age, rug size/weight, pets/kids, heating, moisture risk). The app outputs a clear recommendation: pad material, thickness range, grip level, and cut-to-size instructions, plus a short “avoid list” to prevent damage. It also generates a shopping list with compatible SKUs from partner retailers and a QR code for in-store use. It’s an AI + traditional app: AI helps interpret photos of the floor/rug label and flags risky combinations, but the core logic is rule-based and safety-first.
