UnderstudyHQ is a web + mobile app that helps small and mid-sized theater companies survive last-minute cast absences without chaos. It centralizes role materials (sides, blocking notes, songs, accent notes), tracks who can cover which roles, and generates a “go/no-go” readiness score for each understudy based on rehearsal attendance, self-checkoffs, and director sign-off. The AI layer can auto-create role packets from uploaded scripts (character lines, entrances/exits, cue summaries) and produce quick audio line drills for stand-ins. This is not magic: it won’t replace rehearsal, and it won’t fix poor planning. But it can cut the scramble time from hours to minutes and reduce cancellations. Monetization is straightforward: per-production pricing for community theaters and small pro companies, with optional add-ons for storage and AI processing.
