VenueLore

VenueLore is a mobile + web app that helps people understand the cultural context of places they already visit—restaurants, music venues, neighborhoods, festivals, museums, and community centers. Users scan a QR code at a venue (or search) to get a short, well-sourced “why this place matters” brief: origins, communities involved, etiquette, pronunciation, and what to avoid (e.g., common stereotypes or disrespectful behavior). Venues get a lightweight dashboard to publish and maintain their story, link to primary sources, and highlight upcoming culturally relevant events. The app is realistic because it doesn’t require building a new social network; it piggybacks on existing foot traffic and venue marketing. Monetization is straightforward: venue subscriptions for the QR placard + dashboard, plus optional sponsored cultural guides and city partnerships. The product lives or dies on credibility and tight editorial standards, not flashy features.
