VibeCaption

VibeCaption is a mobile app (with optional smartwatch support) that converts real-world audio into a multisensory stream: live captions, haptic patterns, and simple color “sound badges” (e.g., siren, door knock, baby cry, name called). It’s designed for people who miss audio cues in noisy places or due to hearing loss, but it’s also useful for anyone who wants discreet awareness without blasting volume. The app runs continuous listening on-device when possible, and falls back to cloud only for complex classification the user opts into. Users can train custom cues (their doorbell, their partner’s voice) and map each cue to a vibration pattern and visual alert style. It includes a “Focus Mode” to reduce false alarms and a quick log of detected events for later review. Realistically, accuracy will vary by environment; the app must be transparent about confidence and limitations.
