VinayaLab

VinayaLab is a scenario-based Buddhist education app that helps monastics and serious lay practitioners learn practical discipline (Vinaya) through realistic, branch-specific case studies. Users work through short situations (e.g., handling money, travel, medicine, online communication), choose actions, then see consequences, relevant rule citations, and commentary notes tailored to their tradition (Theravada/Mahayana/Vajrayana where applicable, and specific Vinaya lineages when available). It includes spaced repetition for key rules, a searchable rule map, and a “community policy pack” feature so monasteries can encode local guidelines alongside canonical references. This is not a meditation timer; it’s training for day-to-day conduct and governance. The product is bluntly practical: reduce avoidable mistakes, prevent scandals, and standardize training for new residents. It works offline for monasteries with poor connectivity and supports multilingual content for international communities.
