VMDrift

VMDrift is a web app (with an optional lightweight desktop agent) that continuously audits virtual machine fleets across VMware vSphere and Proxmox to detect “configuration drift” and waste: oversized vCPU/RAM, idle VMs, orphaned disks/snapshots, and policy violations (open ports, outdated templates, missing tags). It generates actionable recommendations with estimated monthly savings, plus one-click Jira/ServiceNow tickets and change windows to avoid breaking production. The MVP focuses on read-only visibility and safe, reversible actions: snapshot cleanup suggestions, right-sizing proposals, and lifecycle reminders for test/dev VMs. This is a traditional app with AI assistance: AI summarizes findings, groups related issues, and drafts remediation plans and stakeholder-ready reports. It’s built for small-to-mid IT teams drowning in virtualization entropy, not for enterprises that already own expensive suites and have dedicated FinOps teams.
