WasteLens
WasteLens is a mobile + web app for small-to-mid facilities to measure and reduce landfill waste with minimal overhead. Staff snap photos of dumpster contents, bins, and hauling tickets; the app organizes audits by location, shift, and vendor. An AI model suggests material categories (cardboard, plastics, food, metals) and flags obvious contamination, but it always asks for human confirmation to avoid bogus reporting. Dashboards translate messy observations into actionable steps: which departments generate the most waste, what’s recyclable but being trashed, and which hauler invoices don’t match expected volumes. It also produces simple monthly reports for internal ESG goals and customer questionnaires. This is not a “save the planet” feel-good app; it’s a practical operations tool that helps cut hauling costs and reduce disposal fees, which is usually the only sustainable incentive that actually gets adopted.
