WattKitchen

WattKitchen is a mobile + web app that helps households and small food businesses reduce energy costs from kitchen appliances using plug-level monitoring and simple, actionable insights. Users connect smart plugs (or a few supported smart meters) to high-draw devices like air fryers, kettles, coffee machines, fridges, and dishwashers. The app identifies standby vampires, unusually high cycles, and “always-on” patterns, then recommends changes like optimal run times, auto-off rules, and maintenance checks (e.g., fridge seal issues inferred from compressor duty cycle). It also tracks cost in local currency using utility rates and provides weekly “savings” reports. This is not magic: it won’t perfectly diagnose every appliance, and it won’t work without compatible plugs. But for users with high bills, it can quickly reveal waste and pay for itself if it saves even a few dollars per month.
