WattProof is a mobile + web app that estimates the real monthly cost of running an appliance in your home, not a lab. Users scan a product label/UPC or paste a listing link, then enter their electricity rate, typical usage (loads/week, hours/day), and local climate/utility plan. The app pulls baseline specs (kWh/year, capacity, efficiency ratings), adjusts with realistic usage profiles, and outputs a simple “true cost” view: monthly energy cost, 3-year total cost, and payback vs cheaper alternatives. It also flags hidden gotchas like incompatible voltage, oversized capacity, or unusually high standby draw. This is a combination traditional + AI app: traditional for deterministic calculators and product data, AI for label/receipt parsing, listing extraction, and explaining tradeoffs in plain language. Monetization: affiliate links, retailer leads, and a small subscription for power users and landlords.
