WattWatch

WattWatch is a mobile + desktop companion app that helps people identify unsafe, fake, or underperforming USB-C/USB-A chargers, cables, and power banks. It pairs with a low-cost USB power meter dongle (off-the-shelf compatible models) to log voltage/current stability, ripple proxies, PD negotiation behavior, heat trends (if the meter exposes it), and real delivered wattage over time. The app then scores each accessory, flags risky patterns (e.g., unstable PD renegotiation, voltage sag under load), and recommends safe charging profiles per device (laptop/phone/tablet). It also maintains a “known-good” library of tested accessories and lets users share anonymized test results. This is not magic: it can’t see inside a charger, but it can catch many real-world failure modes that cause slow charging, random disconnects, and overheating. It’s a traditional app with light AI for anomaly detection and scoring.
