WingWatch

WingWatch is a mobile + web app for conservation groups and land managers to run standardized butterfly/moth monitoring that actually holds up in reports and grant renewals. Volunteers collect timed transect counts with GPS tracks, offline mode, and photo vouchers. An AI-assisted ID suggests species from photos, but the workflow is built around verification (confidence scores, expert review queues, and “unknown” handling) so data quality doesn’t collapse. The web dashboard turns raw sightings into defensible metrics: effort-corrected trends, phenology curves, and habitat intervention comparisons (before/after mowing schedules, pesticide reduction, native planting). It exports directly to CSV plus common reporting formats for funders and local authorities. The honest pitch: it won’t “save butterflies” by itself, but it can make monitoring cheaper, more consistent, and harder to dismiss.
