WipeWitness

WipeWitness is a mobile + web app that helps secondhand electronics sellers prove a device was securely erased and is ready for resale. The app guides the seller through a device-specific checklist (iPhone, Android, Windows laptop, Mac), captures evidence (screenshots, serial/IMEI, OS reset steps), and generates a tamper-evident “Wipe Certificate” buyers can view via a link or QR code. It also flags common resale killers: activation locks, MDM enrollment, carrier locks, and missing parts. This doesn’t magically make devices worth more—buyers are still price-sensitive—but it reduces the most common disputes: “still locked,” “not reset,” “my data is on it,” and “can’t activate.” The product can be used by individuals, but it’s really built for small refurbishers and local shops who need repeatable processes, fewer returns, and better trust when selling on marketplaces.
